12 games geared to challenge every electronic music enthusiast from amateur to pro

(Evanston, IL, January 19, 2004) - SectionZ.com is getting in synch with the sprit of the 2004 Olympic Games by holding a summer competiton of its own – the 2004 summer Electronic music games. “The underlying spirit of the Games is to unify athletes around the world – regardless of nationality -through sportsmanship. We want to emulate that by unifying our international community by offering the ultimate challenge for all electronic musicians”, says Joshua 'Z'Hernandez, founder of the SectionZ.com network.

In June 2004, SectionZ.com will host the 2004 summer electronic music games, a series of 12 games that will put all types of electronica musicians to the test:

The Inaugural Track – This track will define the theme of the games and be the background music for everything that’s going to happen this summer.

ambient Drug test - Ambient gurus will be challenged to create a spatial piece that tests the limits of the frequency spectrum. The themes will be swimming, city running and ceremony. Contestants will be judged on the ability to transition through the three themes as smoothly as possible. Originality in sampling is the key to winning this event.

5k Sample Run – The challenge here is to create a music track with one 5k sample. Hoping to push the limits of some of the more advanced disciplines of music making, the winners will be judged on originality and amount of sample variations created for use in the track.

Trance-cathelon – Trance enthusiasts will be challenged to create a track that spans five sub-genres of trance. The winner will have to impress the judges with his or her ability to transition seamlessly from one genre to the next.

IDM Relay – A three-man team will collaborate to create a track with three distinct transitions. The transitions as well as originality will be the determining factors for the winning entry.

Drum & Race – This race will be held for 24 hours! Olympians will be challenged to create a booming drum and bass set with a starter sample pack. Participants will be judged based on time of entry after a minimum of 20 hours running time and originality.

Hip Hop Hurdles – Hip Hoppers will be tested on their ability to go cross genre and jump from one style to the next on a track with no vocals. The three required styles will be East Coast, Dirty South and West Coast. Entries will be judged on originality and the transitions from genre to genre.

Breakbeat Bodybuilding – This fast-paced run will challenge participants to beat our master breakbeat creators. Judging will be done by the community at large.

999bpm Sprint – This race will be short and sweet. The object is to create a listenable track at 999bpm that still maintains high speed.

100 Meter Trash – The musician who makes the best use of distortion wins in this 100-second industrial track meet. Judging will also be focusing on originality.

Javelin the Judges – The challenge is to beat the SectionZ.com administration staff. The entire community will judge this event.

The Closing Anthem – To conclude the first SectionZ.com summer electronic music games, participants will be asked to create an anthem that will be used for the theme song at the 2006 winter Electronic music games. Tracks will be judged based on originality.

SectionZ.com will offer prizes to all winners – details will be announced next month.

“We are extremely excited about starting this tradition on SectionZ.com.”, says Z. “Besides – everyone’s going to have an insane amount of fun during the 2004 summer electronic music games!”

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for this event, please contact SectionZ.com as soon as possible since there are a limited number of sponsorship opportunities.

Might be stupid questions but...
just to clear things up alittle.

Will all the different styles of competition be as the inaugural track?

i mean, uploading between the dates set for the different events.

Is there a irl place were people gather to take part of this event?

im just trying to get a grip about all this.
